ACADEMIC ROGRAMMES (COURSES OFFERED)

The College offers a Four Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) in Economics, History, Political Science, Urdu and Zoology as Major Subjects.

The College also offers Minor Subjects namely Arabic, Botany, Chemistry, Education, English/English literature, Mathematics, Physics, Sociology, as Minor Subjects in addition to above mentioned Major Subjects.

SUBJECT OFFERING

  1. A candidate shall have to opt the subjects prescribed as per course framework (Annexure-IV) from the academic session 2024-25 for Four Years Undergraduate Programmes (FYUGP) under National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
  2. A major course can be chosen from any subject pertaining to any discipline mentioned in (Annexure-I). A minor course opted by the student shall be from any discipline mentioned in (Annexure-I).
  3. Student/s can swap between minor and major at the start of 3rd semester only if vacancies are available after following procedure laid down for the purpose. The college shall notify the vacancies which are to be filled in order of merit among the applicants. College shall enrol the students on the portal in the same subjects as that enrolled in Ist semester within the specified dates and an application shall be put forth to the Controller of Examination for swapping of subjects along with change of Paper Fee.
  4. A student has to opt multidisciplinary courses of 03 credits each from 1st to 3rd Semesters from disciplines other than major with the condition that the subject opted for shall not be repeated in any semester.
  5. A student has to opt ability enhancement courses of 03 credits each (Modern Indian Languages (MIL) – Hindi/Dogri/Urdu/English language (General), Communication Skills) from 1st to 3rd
  6. A student has to opt skill enhancement courses of 2 credits each from 1st to 3rd Semester. The courses shall be chosen from the basket of courses from NSQF as notified by the University of Jammu or as proposed by the respective board of studies.

A student has to study two value added courses (02 credits each) in 1st Semester and two value added courses (02 credits each) in 2nd semester as compulsory courses with the condition that the value added courses opted in 1st semester shall not be repeated in 2nd semester. In addition, there will be two optional value added courses of two credits each in 3rd and 4th semester(s) other than compulsory courses in 1st and 2nd semester(s)
